Count penalty cards
In common four-player Hearts, each heart scores one penalty point and the queen of spades scores thirteen. There are twenty-six penalty points per hand. Other spades do not carry that penalty.
Shooting the moon
Taking all hearts and the queen of spades is shooting the moon. A common rule gives each opponent twenty-six points; some tables subtract twenty-six from the shooter instead. Follow the selected game rules.
Worked example
Four hearts plus the queen of spades score seventeen penalty points. This is not a moon because other players still took some penalty cards.
