Gin Rummy — How to Play
Start with ten cards. On each turn, draw from the stock or take the top discard, then discard one card. Arrange equal ranks into sets and consecutive cards of one suit into runs. Keep improving your melds while tracking which cards your opponent picks up.
Gin Rummy — Rules
A set contains three or four cards of the same rank. A run contains at least three consecutive cards in one suit. Cards outside melds count as deadwood. A player may knock when their deadwood meets the limit for the selected mode; the opponent then lays off eligible cards and totals are compared. Gin and undercut bonuses, ace order and the knock limit can vary by mode, so follow the rules shown inside the selected game.
Gin Rummy — Tips & Strategy
Keep cards that can connect in more than one way, such as a middle rank with two neighboring possibilities. Count deadwood before taking a discard, and avoid collecting isolated high cards. Watch the opponent’s pickups and discards, but do not assume one visible card proves their whole hand. Compare your deadwood with the mode’s knock limit before ending the round.
